At Elarar Law, we focus on assisting clients with obtaining nonimmigrant visas to the United States, including B-1/B-2 Visitor Visas and F-1 Student Visas. Navigating the U.S. immigration system can be complex; we can ensure a smooth process tailored to your specific needs.

B-1/B-2 Visitor Visas

The B-1/B-2 Visitor Visas are designed for individuals seeking to enter the United States temporarily for business (B-1) or tourism/pleasure (B-2) purposes.

  • B-1 Visa (Temporary Business Visitor): This visa permits entry for activities such as consulting with business associates, attending scientific, educational, professional, or business conventions, negotiating contracts, or participating in short-term training. It's important to note that B-1 visa holders are not authorized to engage in local employment or receive payment from a U.S. source for services rendered.

  • B-2 Visa (Visitor for Pleasure): This visa is intended for tourism, vacation, visiting friends or relatives, medical treatment, participation in social events, or enrollment in short recreational courses of study. Employment is strictly prohibited under the B-2 classification.

F-1 Student Visas

The F-1 Visa is designated for individuals wishing to pursue full-time academic studies in the United States. Eligible institutions include accredited colleges, universities, seminaries, conservatories, academic high schools, elementary schools, or language training programs.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Enrollment: Acceptance into a full course of study at a Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP)-certified institution.

  • Intent: Demonstrate intent to return to your home country upon completion of studies.

  • Financial Support: Provide evidence of sufficient funds to cover tuition and living expenses.

Employment Opportunities:

F-1 students may engage in limited employment opportunities, including:

  • On-Campus Employment: Up to 20 hours per week during academic terms; full-time during breaks.

  • Curricular Practical Training (CPT): Employment integral to the curriculum, such as internships.

  • Optional Practical Training (OPT): Up to 12 months of employment related to the field of study, with a possible 24-month extension for STEM graduates.
